Trend Alert: Bold, Bright Cocktail Dresses

Look. Let's be honest. This is by no means the first time I have blogged a trend alert about brightly coloured cocktail dresses. And it may not be the last, if I am honest. Because this is a trend that is sticking around like glue. What I thought was interested in the last month was the shape of the frocks that are currently doing the rounds. Those genuinely 50s style dresses with the full skirt, the longer length and the freshness of delicious fruit. Jessica Alba is in custom Carolina Herrera, Ginnifer Goodwin in edgy Jonathan Saunders and Emmy Rossum in sweet as sugar Oliver Tolentino.

Of course just because the dress doesn't fit the fifties profile, doesn't mean it has missed the bright cocktail dress trend. I mean Dita vonTeese's beautiful purple dress is close. And Kylie Minogue's Emilio Pucci dress is as sassy as any of those above. Elizabeth Banks is possibly furthest from the core trend in her floor-length Elie Saab, but the utter scrumptiousness of the colour made me include it in this round up of dresses.
