The 2012 Grammy Awards Red Carpet was a revelation. Usually the music awards shows are a disappointment with too many music stars looking to edge out the others with their wacky ways - or just mistaking what is appropriate. But this year the ladies came to town. And they looked elegant, poised and appropriate. The biggest winner of the night was Adele. Of course. Not only did she win six Grammys, but she also gets a best dressed nod in her Armani black shimmer number and lighter locks. Stunning. Also in black was Corinne Bailey Rae, wearing a super-fun black Christian Siriano gown that I love and that suits her perfectly. And also bucking the trends, as you would hope and expect, was Esperanza Spalding in dip dye couture. At first I wasn't sure, and then I loved it. It is miraculously on-trend and different all at the same time.
Looking more orthodox in her beauty was Taylor Swift wearing a Zuhair Murad embroidered gown, kept especially for the occasion. Another look that I loved was preggers model and Kings of Leon wife, Lily Aldridge in Gucci purple print (ahem). And Kelly Rowland in her Alberta Feretti was a vision in classic beauty. Yay. Actual loveliness at the Grammys. And no one really had to be conventional to achieve it. Well played ladies.
Who did you think took overall bext dressed? I'm going with Adele out of affection and genuine joy. How about you? Let me know.
