The rumour is that the annual Museum of Contemporary Art Gala is the shebang of all shebangs in the art world. The MOCA Gala, as it is known, is the party that rocks the party. And the ladies who turn up for it, dress accordingly. By which I mean, they pull out their latest couture gown, of course, but make sure it is definitely on the more experimental end of their spectrum. This is the place where the couture boundaries are pushed just a bit. Ordinary simply won't do.
And so we see Nicole Richie, usually sleek and elegant, go for a rose blush gown by Julien MacDonald, which is definitely unusual for her. And the super-awesome Dita von Teese push things even further in this inspired Jean Paul Gautier stunner. And even Gwen Stefani went a push further for her, wearing Carven for the first time. Young and edgy.
And then there was the stunning Kirsten Dunst in turquoise Rodarte - it's been a while since she has taken a risk like this and it works. Phew. Jamie King, who is usually simple to a fault, went asymmetric Oscar de la Renta, and the surprise package, for me, Dakota Johnson (daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith - if you are too young for this, just ignore), who is all grown up and in a tux. And I like it.
My favourite? Well, Dita takes it for me on this round. You?
