The
2012 Elle Style Awards was held in London last night. Many of the stars who were in town for the BAFTAs turned up and raised the red carpet stakes. Significantly. So last night the actual style was a tale of dark and light. Bold, dramatic statements, and delicate whispers. The delightful
Jessica Chastain - who must have gone through around seven thousand evening dresses in the past year and yest still seems to manage to make it look effortless - was there in an exciting
Alexander McQueen ensemble with a wonderfully full skirt. Loved that one. And
Christina Hendricks took all of us by surprise in her vintage
Carolina Herrera pop of colour, beautifully accessorised and carried off.
Christina Ricci was classically elegant in
Jonathan Saunders and my mate
Alexa Chung was typically irreverent in a
Stella McCartney suit. Seriously good show on the dark side, wouldn't you say?

Then there were the ladies who saw the light. Tali Lennox may have gone slightly awry in her Julian McDonald sheer number, but the elegance and beauty of the detail on the dress sone through and I loved the overall effect, if not the dress in principal. Rosie Huntington Whiteley wore an Antonio Berardi metallic sheen of a mullet dress. If you could just chop that train off, this would be perfection in a dress. Still. She looks super. My music fave, Florence Welch was understated and fabulously true in her Erdem florals and Gillian Anderson continues her run of style statements with this glorious vintage yellow dress by William Vintage. I want it. please.
Who was your favourite of the night? For me it is the Alexander McQueen. How about you?
